Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay was named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Singapore’s second Governor that play an important part in positioning Clarke Quay as the main commerce port back in 1870s. It is Singapore historical riverside quay located near to the mouth of Singapore River and Boat Quay. Back in the 19th Century, Boat Quay was the centre of commerce where barge lighters would transport their goods from upstream to the warehouses located at Clarke Quay. Cargo service was relocated to Pasir Panjang in the 20th century when the Singapore River was polluted by the commerce activities.
Today, Clarke Quay is one of Singapore’s popular shopping and entertainment spots with riverside restaurant that attracts both locals and tourists. Canninghill Piers will be directly connected to Clarke Quay providing future residents with more shopping and dining option.
